We have a little tradition in My House - A birching to see in the New Year.
It seems to have a very positive effect on the mind, focusing it and setting it up for all that the year ahead might bring.
Doe anyone else observe this ritual or something similar?
Great

Oh Gosh!
It remains my one unrealised dream to receive a traditional birching, where I am ordered to prune the correct branches from a tree in the garden, then bind them together with a silk ribbon, prior to presenting them to my punisher for inspection.
To do so on New Year's Eve would be a simply gorgeous way in which to usher the New Year - even if it may just render the rest of it a bit of a let down!
I have some 'visitors' to My House this week, and so harvested at least enough hazel twigs to create 4 rods.
I will display them in a vase of salt water ready for them to be made up by each visitor.
I imagine I will need to replenish the vase in time for next week's visit and cp workshop by Mistress Sapphire.
