London O&P meet Sat 6th November

Posted by Diablos_patience on Mon 20 Sep 2010 (modified Tue 21 Sep 2010) to O_and_P

After this thread it has been suggested that we arrange an O&P meet here in London, so here it is.

The next O&P meet will be held on Saturday 6th November 2010 @ The Potion Bar in Maple St, W1T 6HP, I have booked the venue from 12 – 6pm. Usually the discussion's begin about 2pm and finish at 5pm but there never really seems to be enough time so we can be a little more flexible if required.

The O&P events are for people who are interested in O&P, M/s & D/s relationships and although they are informal meets like a munch they tend to be more structured in that we spend most of the time having a round-table discussion.

The venue is the Potion Bar in Maple St, W1T 6HP, from 1pm to 5pm on Saturday 6th November. The Potion Bar is within easy walking distance of Great Portland St, Warren St, and Goodge St underground stations, and not that far from Euston and Kings Cross for those that wish to travel from further afield.

It would be a good idea if people could think about things that they would like to be discussed and maybe suggest them on this thread or memo me.

Right the first bits done so who's coming?

I'm crap at organising anything so at the risk of sounding flippant lol, Master and I would be interested in attending if a bunch of Mancunians fancied doing a minibus trip to London for this

(Shows how much we iz rating OandP :) )

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice :)xx

Question:

  • Can/Does conforming to the stereotypical construct of a formal O&P relationship actually heighten the enjoyment - is it that structure that some of us crave? Is it a positive or negative thing a to have the stereotypical formal structure shape a relationship like O&P?

Look into my eyes, not around my fucking eyes.

it's easier and cheaper to either go on the national express or the train.

Last time I went down to London it cost me five pounds

Well think we have the first topic for discussion...

Q: In an O&P Type relationship, in which the manifesto is closely followed, just what should Mia drink when hungover?

I would say 'yes' to temperance and 'alcohol' to DeviantDr. I wouldn't want to go against the manifesto and i'm sure it says i should always drink alcohol when i'm hungover. I read it.

Where is the cheapest place to stop near to where the o+p is happening.

As at the moment i'm looking at 200 pounds for 2 nights stay.

Travel lodge may be the best option but I would recommend you look for one just outside of London as central London tends to be extortionate.

ETA: I'm in the suburbs about 15-20 mins from central London and one near me is about £20 per night.

my only suggestion would possibly be something like Etap (cheap and looks it but always clean lol) there is one in the docklands area that used to be just under £50 per night...

and you get a short walk to the DLR

Yeah, London is a bit far away for us to do in a day-trip (and even that's expensive with rail prices these days) so it's a bit much for us to come down for just the meeting. However I'm sure we'll manage to make the next Manchester O&P event, and we're even planning to make it out to a club night in December ;)

Ok so to recap these are the question's suggested thus far:

• in an O&P Type relationship, in which the manifesto is closely followed, just what should Mia drink when hungover?

• And @psyhceee definitely suggested one about good looking geezer's but it appears to have vanished… :-p

• Can/Does conforming to the stereotypical construct of a formal O&P relationship actually heighten the enjoyment - is it that structure that some of us crave? Is it a positive or negative thing a to have the stereotypical formal structure shape a relationship like O&P?

• how useful (and in what way) are the protocols and trappings of 'Old Guard' style M/s?

• given the need to nurture all aspects of a relationship, how hard should one work to deepen submission?

Come on guys…. Surely we can do a bit better than that??

If there is a dinner afterwards can we go somewhere different than last time? Although I didn't/don't really like pizza, I just had it to be sociable and as there wasn't really any choice.

Looks like we have decided to attend, though may not make subversion. Depending on fireworks availability, I'm guessing it will be subject to threatened fire brigade strikes, then I would also be interested in an after meet dinner. Especially if we can find enough people willing to stretch to Pescatori (just down the road on Charlotte Street).

ETA oh and we are definitely bringing home made cup cakes and they will be themed. I will also be open to offers to punish my submissive in public if she lets me forget to make/bring them.

i'd love to attend and Master is considering whether He should grant permission for me to attend - He is back home in Canada and i am over here working for a while, thus if permission granted, i'll be attending alone. Are there any others attending without their partners? Will i be the only "single" person in a room full of couples ;)

Last few times there have been single people there too - so nothing to worry about :)

Don't worry i'm usually the single one in the o&p village and i'll be attending this one alone. My dom has to tend his animals and make equipement for me whilst i get drunk in london see how i've got the o&p spirit.

thanks mia and holly. Hmmm getting permission to attend might be a tad easier than obtaining permission to indulge in wine. Here's hoping.

Yes. From what I remember, there were about four of us there last time who were single.

I plan to be there on Saturday, but do not feel at all intimidated by the fact that I'm single and going alone. In fact, I am far more worried that my current Winter jacket doesn't go with the trousers I'll be wearing.

Received a memo asking me to post this on the main events board so i have. Apparently there are some who are interested in an O&P type dynamic who do not frequent the groups section of the site... *Shock Horror* :-D

So has anyone come up with any smart ideas for afterwards or are we just going to leave that until the day.. which is very soon.... plus is anybody doing anything in london to kill time between this and subversion?

Cupcakes are in the making, now I just have to be well enough to go tomorrow :-(

Can I add O&P LDRs to the discussion list? I had a browse through the thread about it and views on the topic were quite varied. However nobody really said anything about HOW to integrate O&P into a LDR. Communication and stuff is obviously important, but that's all more about the vanilla side of it. I'm going to Rome next year for 6 months, so I have a BIG interest in that topic and how to make it work :-)

The LDR kinda links in with the not being in a 24/7 thing and is something which i definately think warrents discussion, from a purely selfish prospective of course ;-)... so yup that will most definately be on the agenda :-D

I hope you feel well enough to come :)

Sorry @mia, I'm not going to make it and so I won't be able to supply those cupcakes as hoped. Really disappointed not to make it though. But with a seriously ill dog with test results due tomorrow, I can't walk or drive still and it's all taking it's toll. Have a fab time everyone!!

I am afraid I cannot make this one due to a very ill little man who needs my care after some surgery.

I wish all a great event and promise to be there for the next London one.

Any chance of summaries/new discussion threads on the topics for those of us who couldn't make it then? ;)

I think one of the problems with going into detail about what was discussed is that the more interesting details tend to be more private, and often of the type that people may well not want appearing online. There's no easy way for others to tell, so it's down to individuals to post things they talked about. I suppose one way to deal with this might be to start a thread in the group afterwards with the same intro as each topic that was on the agenda (at yesterday's, patience had written an intro for each one.) That then gives people a chance to make "what I said at the Open was" replies if they feel like it.
